My daughter is seven and a figure skater.  Being seven means that she is convinced that she can do anything, including make it to the Olympics.  So this blog is about her journey, no matter how far it takes her.  I expect to share the heartache, the costs, the joy and of course the drama.  This Saturday 7/14/13 she will perform a solo for her home rink, and from July 22 -28 she will be at ISI worlds.

The two pictures posted above are from a competition in Santa Rosa CA on April 20, 2013.  Her group "little girls"  took first place and her free style two light entertainment "sparkle"  took second.  She had a fantastic time, but she did not handle getting second place well.  Throughout her entire performance her little brother was puking all over the floor.  This is when I realized that I was a skating mom, not merely the mother of a daughter who skates, because instead of rushing to get my son cleaned up, we waited for her performance to be over before I cleaned him and the floor up.  Also, we did not leave, we waited so that she could compete in the group number and also to cheer on her friends.

My son was okay - but all the same but for her skating we would have left and gone home.
